Virtual How To Vote

How to vote on this year’s films

UPDATE: Voting ends Thursday at 5pm ET!

Audience voting in the virtual film festival world is a bit more challenging, and possibly confusing, than it is during the live festival. Here are some basic instructions on how to vote this year.

PASS HOLDERS
Pass holders can vote for the films they’ve watched (features and shorts) on each individual film’s page. Just go to each film’s page and click on the stars to cast your vote. The vote is automatically recorded. 1 star is lowest and 5 stars is highest.
Note: The stars are gray to start so they might be a little difficult to see on some pages. They turn yellow when you click on them.

If you feel like you need to change your vote you can do that as many times as you want until Thursday, August 6 at 5pm EDT. Whatever your vote is at that time will be registered as your one and final vote on each film.

Voting on films in Shorts Programs
If you watched any of the Shorts Programs, you can either go to the page for the shorts program or visit the pages for each of the short films in the program and vote for them separately.

VOTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR TICKET HOLDERS

Feature Films
Ticket holders can cast their votes for the Feature Films the same way as pass holders. By using the same access link you received to watch the film, you will be automatically taken to the film’s main page, where you can click on the stars to vote. Again 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest).

We have sent out reminders and instructions to all ticket holders on how to go back and vote, in case they didn’t vote when they watched.

What if I bought a ticket to a Shorts Program?
Because the virtual platform does not allow for viewers who purchase single tickets to cast votes for each individual film in a Shorts Program, all patrons who purchased tickets for a short program were sent a free Shorts Only Pass, which gives them access to all the short films in the 2020 Festival. Once the pass is activated, you can vote on the films you watched in your shorts program until Thursday, August 12 at 5pm EDT.

AUDIENCE AWARDS
All the votes will be counted and the Audience Awards will be announced live at a later date TBA. The Jury Awards and Directors Choice Awards will be announced live at the 30th Annual Woods Hole Film Festival Awards Celebration on Friday, August 13 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. (This is a rescheduled date, as the original awards event was scheduled for Sunday, August 2.) The event will be broadcast live on our Facebook page.
