The Latent Image Awards are an annual competition of short films by Emerson College students. Latent Image is a student-published film journal at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. Since 1989, they have devoted its pages to the medium of film, with criticism, reviews, interviews, and more. They are proud to have published student submissions from universities around the world. The Latent Image organization meets weekly, and all meetings are open to Emerson College undergraduates.

Drawn With Lines

A hand-drawn character comes to life in "Drawn with Lines" and, like most of us, questions his existence within the world he lives. In this case, it's a piece of paper. Eventually, he discovers the possibility of creating his own reality, and his own romance.

Spare Change News

A look into Boston's homeless newspaper and the impact it has had on the vendors who sell it, such as Joe McDonald and Marc D. Goldfinger. 'Spare Change News' tells the story of the influence one newspaper had on bringing one man out of life as a homeless heroin addict, and into one as the editor of a paper that has grown into a force of social change over the last decade.

Sunday Morning Breakfast

David wakes up on a lazy sunday morning only to make a startling discovery about his mother. With the expectation of a breakfast from his mother waiting for him in the kitchen, he finds a homeless man looking through the family album. The man engages him briefly before leaving. Confused, David turns on the radio and proceeds with his normal breakfast routine. But soon, David's choice in radio programming reveals more to him than he wanted to know about his mother.
