Living with Slim: Kids Talk About HIV/AIDS
In Living With Slim, director and Boston University film professor Sam Kauffmann captures with startling honesty the lives of seven African children-boys and girls, ranging in age from six to seventeen-infected with the HIV virus. The reality of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa is stark; three of the children have lost both parents and three have lost one parent to AIDS. All seven discuss how old they were when they found out they were HIV positive; how they felt when they first learned they were infected; how they are treated at home and at school; and how the illness affects their daily lives. They also talk about their dreams for the future, and the career paths they hope to follow some day. The film's title references the fact that in many African countries, HIV/AIDS is called "Slim."
Year: 2004, Length: 29 min., Format: beta sp, Origin: Uganda and Massachusetts, U.S.A.

The Ramones & I
One filmmaker’s short, but sweet personal tribute to the Ramones as he details what the band was all about and what they meant to him. He does so in a monologue that runs over classic never before seen footage of the Ramones from 1976, as well as footage of the filmmaker, Rusty Nails, during his own early pinhead days. It’s a loving tribute and no matter how many times someone climbs on top of a mountain and screams their greatness, you still can’t believe that a band that amazing existed.
Year: 2004, Length: 7 min., Format: super 8, Origin: Illinois, U.S.A.
Filmmaker: Rusty Nails

Filmmaker Kevin McGowan traces the park’s physical metamorphosis with his own changing perception of what it means to be on the losing side of a war between states and ideologies.
