AWARDS

Once again, a winning comedy screenplay will be perfomed
as the staged reading. It promises to be as funny as last year's
great reading of Andrew Clarke's "The Talent" which
not only had the entire audience howling, but was quickly picked
up by a producer based on rumors about the reading's success
and is now in development.

Vermont

A New Haven scam
artist retreats to his grandmother's Vermont home and tries
to con the locals. After installing a stolen traffic light,
he is elected mayor. The clock is ticking as he attempts to
expose the corrupt ex-mayor who is trying to oust him after
uncovering his sordid past.

The cast of the reading come mainly from
the Angell Street Players of Providence, RI with guest actors
Jason Miller and Rick Johnston, who wowed as the two leads last
year. It promises to be as funny as last year's great reading.
Director Jean-Paul Ouellette and HSSW's Scott Anderson will
be on hand for the awards.
CAST OF CHARACTERS:
Joe Short (TYLER QUINN) is
a Rhode Island based actor, a Theater Major at the University
of Rhode Island, in his senior year. This past year, he appeared
in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST as D’Arque, LES LIASONS DANGEROUS
as Azolen, THE GRAPES OF WRATH as Tom Joad, and SNAKEBIT as

Mark Carter (RENNY HILTON, WALLY, CHIEF
CLARKE & Various Voices) an Associate Artist for
the Rhode Island Theater Ensemble, Mark has been involved with
Rhode Island Theater since 1982. Lately, he’s been spotted
in Sam Shepard’s FOOL FOR LOVE and at various regional

Martha
Cary (HOPE FRANCIS) is a native of Nantucket, Massachusetts,
and currently resides in New York City. She holds a BFA in Acting
from Marymount Manhattan College, and has studied at the Stella
Adler Conservatory and Circle in the Square. Theater Credits
include The Importance of Being Earnest, Noises Off, The Real
Inspector Hound, and The Fantasticks. Other New York credits
include The Interview, The Water Children, The Most Massive
Woman Wins, and most recently Gertrude Stein’s Three Sister’s
Who Are Not Sisters. Staged readings include the world premiers
of Bee Stung Lips, and By the Pool. She is a member of S.A.G.
and A.F.T.R.A., and is thrilled to be involved with the 14th
Annual WHFF. And....she just passed her New York State Real
Estate exam, so if anyone is looking for an apartment in the

Rick Johnston (CARL LEEPER, JUDGE MORAN
& Various Voices) a SAG member since 1998, co-starred
with Kevin Chapman & John Fiori in ABRACADABRA. He has worked
in numerous film and television projects, including CIDER HOUSE
RULES and Martin Scorcese’s THE DEPARTED. He played the
Club Manager in last year’s WHFF Staged Reading of THE

Marianna
Scarpellini (VIOLET MADISON, MISS FERGUSON & Various Voices)
has had a busy career as an actress, comedian and singer, in
theaters in Southern Massachusetts. Currently based in Falmouth,
Marianna’s recent roles include STEEL MAGNOLIAS as Truvy
and OLIVER as Mrs. Sowesberry. Also, a Motivational Speaker,
her program is entitled “Learning How To Love Oneself

Brian
Ellsworth (LUKE FRANCIS, HARLAN THIBODEAU & Various Voices)
has studied and performed in Boston and New York for almost
ten years. A member of the Screen Actors Guild, he currently
resides in Rhode Island where he is working on the Showtime
original series The Brotherhood. Brian’s movie work
includes FEVER PITCH, THE DEPARTED, AMISTAD, MEET JOR BLACK,
OUTSIDE PROVIDENCE, in addition to the TV series. PROVIDENCE.
He has appeared in films for the Rhode Island School of Design
and Boston University and continues to perform in theatre

| Janette
Gregorian (SARA, DELORES RENFORT, APRIL VINING & Various
Voices) has a BA in theater from Rhode Island College.
She has studied in NYC and Boston. Janette is a member of the
Screen Actors Guild and worked on many feature films, including
AMISTAD and THE BUCCANEERS. She was on ONE LIFE TO LIVE as a
featured player. TV Series work includes UNSOLVED MYSTERIES,
PROVIDENCE and BROTHERHOOD. Janette acts in local theaters throughout
Rhode Island and this is the second year that Janette has joined
other members of Angell Street Players at the Woods Hole Film

Jason
Miller (TOM TRAVIS, OLD MAN, OTIS & Various Voices)
After earning a degree in creative writing at the University
of Massachusetts, Jason studied acting at John Casablanca’s
Studio in Newton, MA and subsequently worked as an Assistant
Producer for J.P. Ouellette and Yankee Classic Pictures in Brookline.
He is the producer of the independent film “Little Erin
Merryweather,” a co-founder of the improvisational acting
group Comedy Kitchen, and a perennial presence at The Woods
Hole Film Festival staged readings. He is currently working

| Alex
Daunis (Narrator) has worked in many film projects
in New England and NYC, and is a member of SAG, AFTRA and the
Harvard Square Script Writers. Last year, he was the lead Spaceman
in a 22 minute short film, SPACE THEATER, which was screened
at a number of film festivals, including WHFF 2004. An indie
short, SOLACE, is currently in post production. Other film work
includes TRUE LIES, AMISTAD, ROPEWALK and JESUS, MARY &
JOEY. This will be the second year that Alex joins other members
of Angell Street Players to produce and perform in the Staged
Reading of the Winning Script for the Woods Hole Film Festival.

ANGELL STREET PLAYERS, based
in Providence, provides voices for Staged Readings at Film Festivals
and Script Writing Competitions for Producers, Playwrights and
Screenwriters. Our actors have brought scripts to life at the
Woods Hole Film Festival, the Nantucket Film Festival, the Rhode
Island International Film Festival, the Harvard Square Script
Writers, the Rhode Island WritersCircle, the Harvard University
Extension Advanced Screenwriting Class and for several writers.
Upcoming 2005 events include the ScriptBiz Short Scripts Winners
and the Halloween Horror Script Winners for the Rhode Island
International Film Festival. On September 13th, Angell Street
Players will produce a reading, as the Inaugural Event, to announce
the new Pawtucket Arts Festival’s 2006 Script Writing
