theater, the Woods Hole Community Hall, is a precious historical resource
for the village of Woods Hole, and the many visitors to this community.
The building, originally called Liberty Hall, was constructed in 1878,
with money raised entirely from public subscription. The Woods Hole Community
Association purchased the building in 1919, and restored it. It has served
a wide variety of purposes over the years, for church services, medicine
shows, as a dance hall, a service club in World War II, a teen center,
the village meetinghouse, and of course a theater, home of the Woods Hole
Theater Company for twenty-seven years. It seats about one-hundred people.
