Ouellette of Yankee Classic Pictures announcing the winners
of the New England Work-In-Progress Screenplay Competition.
The award ceremony was held at the Captain Kidd, a stalwart
sponsor of the festival. The 2003 competition has added
a short screenplay category. The Competition is co-sponsored
by Final Draft, makers of the screenwriter's software.
The top three scripts in feature and short win the latest
version of Final Draft.
Barbara Wilson Arboleda, author of the feature script "Imperfectly,"
receiving her award.
Of the feature screenwriters, top winner Robert Gateley of
"Hat Trick" could not make the ceremony and both Margaret
Broucek (second place with "East Paris") and Spencer Beglarian
(hororable mention with "A Vicious Circle") were coming in
on the weekend when their short films ("Beauty Parlor Census"
and "Just Don't Do It," respectively) were showing at the
festival.

Cinematographer Ed Slattery, director John Stimpson ("The
Winter People"), Jane Clark ("Dog Gone"), and festival intern
Dahlia Haughey.
