Everyone has a story to tell. Remember the shoebox with the stack of family photos and videos? Chances are that all of these great memories are sitting in a drawer or on a shelf gathering dust rather than telling their story...your story. In this workshop, you will learn how to preserve your images as a video memoir or personal documentary. You may surprise yourself with the interesting stories you have to tell.
DESCRIPTION: The workshop is a two-day survey course that will cover all of the elements of making your personal documentary. No prior filmmaking experience is required, but you should be familiar with how to use a computer. You don't need to own or buy equipment for the workshop.
The course will be divided into five sections:
a. What is a documentary
b. Planning your project
c. Working with footage or other materials (collecting, shooting, assembling)
d. Editing Picture and Sound
e. Showing or selling your project
You will learn the elements of visual storytelling and how to select the images and elements that are best for your project and how to use the hardware and software to put the entire project together.
