Writing & Directing The Simpsons - Q&A with Ian Maxtone-Graham
If you have ever wondered what makes Bart tick or when Homer will become a metrosexual, now is your one and only chance to ask. On Saturday, August 1st, the Woods Hole Film Festival and Quicks Hole Restaurant are proud to present a Q&A with writer, producer Ian Maxtone-Graham. If your kids are messed up from watching too much of The Simpsons on TV, this is a great chance to learn why.
Ian Maxtone-Graham has been a writer for The Simpsons since 1995. Before that, he wrote for Saturday Night Live for three years, where he co-wrote Adam Sandler’s “The Chanukah Song”. At The Simpsons, he has received five Emmy Awards as a producer, and two as a writer, for “Trash of the Titans,” and “The Seemingly Neverending Story.” He has also won three Annie Awards and a Writer’s Guild Award. Last season, he and his writing partner, Billy Kimball, wrote the episode “Gone Maggie Gone,” a spoof of Da Vinci Code-type movies. He was born in Boston, spent many summers and Thanksgivings in South Yarmouth and Chatham, and graduated from Brown University in Providence.

A "CASH BASH" WITH TRIPPING LILY FEATURING THE MUSIC OF JOHNNY CASH
A group of musicians who draw their inspiration from within, Tripping Lily has deeply explored songwriting with their personal and passionate work. With Demetrius Becrelis (ukulele/guitar/vocals), brother Alex Becrelis (mandolin/vocals), Monica Rizzio (fiddle/ukulele/vocals) ,and Laird Boles (stringed bass), Tripping Lily blends a unique sound of traditional and contemporary genres. The Boston Globe says, "Tripping Lily is a genre unto itself." Tripping Lily's song "For Five Years or More" went to number one for several weeks on Boston's Folk Station WUMB. While attending the IBMA festival in Nashville in 2006 they were interviewed on Great American Country (GAC TV).
Touted as fresh, energetic, and alive, Tripping Lily's pop-rock groundwork is cross-fertilized with folk music and cutting edge vocal harmonies. The band's unique ability to absorb traditional music while speaking to the here and now is proof of their versatility as contemporary musicians. Tripping Lily seeks to exploit the empty space of the canvas. They unravel everything they've known and in turn, end up in a better place.

Joining Pat will be Boston-based keyboardist Plamen Karadonev, drummer Steve Langone, and bassist Kendall Eddy. These musicians take an improvisationary approach to blending accessible melodies, rich harmonic soundscapes, and energetic grooves to create a truly "post-modern" jam band sound, bringing the vibe of Hait-Ashbury to Woods Hole in a way that builds on the collective experience of the last four decades of music and the culture which has shaped it.
