Festival Screening and Competition Rules
  • Films selected for the WHFF will be announced no later than July 1, 2009.
  • Festival dates/venues subject to change without notice at sole discretion of the Festival.
  • To be in competition, a film must meet all eligibility requirements, must have been selected by the Selection Committee or the Festival Director for competition, and must have paid the entrance fee.  No fee waivers will be granted.
  • Films in competition may be eligible for awards given by the Festival, such as the Juried Awards, the Audience Award, the Director's Award etc. Films local to New England may be eligible for local awards and prizes which may include gifts for services from local productions, equipment, and post-production companies.  The Festival Committee will determine the eligibility of any project. Works will be categorized as competitive or noncompetitive categories at the sole discretion of the Festival Committee.  Eligibility for awards and prizes is the sole discretion of the Festival Committee and the Festival Directors.
  • Programming: The programming of the films selected is entirely at the discretion of the Program Director. Each film may be screened up to a maximum of three times during the Festival. For the festival website and for the fstival program we ask that each filmmaker ensures that we have at least one production still which can be used for promotion (this does not include production shots of crew or posters for the film.)
  • WHFF will not be screening films in 35mm at the 18th annual Festival. We regret that there is not currently a venue in the village of Woods Hole for proper 35mm screening, something we are working to remedy.
  • The Festival, at is sole discretion, reserves the right to not show any work which does not meet the visual and technical standards of the festival, even if the film has been accepted into the Festival.  Please make sure you have reviewed and screened the print you are sending us.  Sometimes labs make mistakes too and it's better if you find that our prior to the Festival.
  • We make every effort to handle your entries with the utmost care. However the Festival is not responsible for damage to, or loss of, material submitted.  Print Insurance is the sole responsibility of the Filmmaker.
